Google algorithms keep on changing to avoid spammers and profit-driven contents used by businesses thus, giving the applause to white hats SEO and informative content posts to help readers. But is this what really Google wants (quality)? or are there other motives?

Google Panda and Penguin are the recent algorithms update created by Google to prevent web spam techniques and promote link diversity. Violators are being penalized and worst, removed in Google’s index.

Google panda and penguin algorithm to fight spam

However, does the big G really care about useful and high quality contents to help users or is it just killing big corporations who can afford to dominate the organic results to force them to shift in to paid advertising like Google Adwords, hence, generating more income for Google?

We know how businessmen work and Google is a corporation. Just like others, their goal is to prosper and to have so much profit as possible. and thus, what they are promoting as “Quality” can be used as a selling proposition for their proprietary needs.

Google deals with advertisers and website publishers which provide the huge part of their income. The services like Google Maps, Google Earth, Google Talk, Google Plus, Google Reader and Gmail which users are cherishing for free are actually from those the yellowish links that appear on your search results or on the top of your very own Gmail account.

You can say that it’s not that bad but Google actually keeps track of your searches reciprocally giving you Ads based on your search query and website preferences. Quite creepy I guess, but picturing Google as ‘Big Brother’ of the house, internet users are the housemates. We should follow his rules and win the big night of getting to the top results.

Or you can also picture the search giant as Jigsaw from the movie Saw (the morbid movie with 7 series) where players must play the game and follow the game master’s rules but in the end, everyone dies no matter how good or bad players play the game.

There is a competition between organic and inorganic search results. And if you’ll observe, those who pay are the VIPs of the ranks. This pushes monopoly and badly affects small businesses. Now if you would be asked, is Google really pushing quality or is it just bullying businesses for its profit?

Being convinced that SEO is right tool for your business, the next question for you would be “how do we start?” This lens is created to help you start with a winning SEO campaign by providing you things to consider in starting and setting up your campaign. This is not a walk-through but a framework on the things you should figure out in building up an SEO plan of attack.

Guide on starting an SEO project

Most companies are being stalled by this question on the first stretch of their Internet marketing campaign. Seeing a lot of success stories and case studies, undoubtedbly makes search engine optimization as one of the most effective promotional tools in marketing and winning businesses from the internet. Deciding on where to start with SEO is not answerable by a “simple yes let’s start with SEO!” but creates more questions and confusion on every team on each type of business.

This post is created as a guide for business owners, directors, managers, leaders and/or marketers, for both in-house or 3rd party agencies that are looking for advice on how to start a winning SEO campaign.

Things to consider in starting an SEO Campaign

1. Identify your goals
This will set your over-all SEO vision and will get everybody’s head focus on the SEO campaign. By creating a clear and concise goal, you are helping everyone working on the SEO project identify the do’s and dont’s of the campaign. The best SEO goals are defined as something realistic, challenging but achievable, concised and are also perceived to be a key-factor for your overall organizational goals. These can be in form of rankings, visitors, visibility, brand positionining, gross sales, etc.

2. Know your market
Knowing your market does not only focus on your target demographics but on your over-all online positioning as well. Implying your communication strategy to your search engine optimization campaign will help your business build a solid internet presence that is loved and remembered by your prospects. The following questions is a start for your SEO-Communication strategy:

a. How does our brand being perceived by our target audience?
b. Are we visible on where our prospects are going?
c. What are the questions of our potential customers and are we providing answers for them?

3. Study your competitors

Knowing is very different from studying. Your competitors need to be studied and to be monitored at least every once a week for you to better conceptualize your plan of attack. Even the market leaders are always on the look out for comparables (businesses that are related but cannot be considered as direct competitors, like a doctor servicing a different location, etc.) so that they can pick-up the best strategies and avoid that not-so-good ones. Furthermore, you can also learn from what they are doing and get to pick up new strategies on how to increase pagerank and traffic.

4. Create short term and long-term strategies
The strategy is the over-all brains behind your search campaign so it is better to be innovative, reviewed and carefully hand-picked. Short-term strategies are strategies that can be executed and tested in a shorter time. Once this strat is proven, you can have it as a part of your long-term strategies.

Long-term strategies are on-going plans that you can always execute in a longer time. Some long-term SEO strategies are blogs, social networking and expert positioning. It’s also a good idea to talk to a 3rd party SEO consultant to get expert insights outside your company and help you improve your over-all search strategies.

5. Intensify your keyword research
Keywords are what bring customer-traffic to your website. Therefore, you should always make sure that you have very good rankings on a wide keyword list. Going after on short-term keywords will definitely bring you more customers but requires more time and resources. Don’t miss the opportunity of targeting long-tail keywords that can also bring the right traffic to your website such as industry tips, how to’s, myths and anything else. By knowing how to do SEO keyword research and by tracking your keywords’ performance will give you the data that you need to push through other target keywords.

6. Add time line and metrics to your SEO campaign
This is a support to #4 tip. Metrics will help you measure if your campaign is effective or not. By adding up metrics and timelines, you will be able to identify if your strategy is still effective and if you are still in-line with your goals. An acceptable timeline to see SEO improvement on rankings is at least 6 months, depending on the competitiveness of your target keywords.

7. Choose the best people for the SEO project
Weigh carefully if you require an in-house or an agency SEO team. If you don’t have an in-house SEO, I would suggest that you find someone who works for your company directly who has attention to details, hard-working, good in research and very result oriented. Though they don’t have complete SEO skills, these qualities will help you monitor and find new insights regarding the ever-changing search landscape.

8. Choose the best SEO company to work with
Building an in-house SEO team requires a lot of resources and time specially if your business is not ready for it. SEO in the Philippines and India can be good choices for outsource internet marketing with since there are a lot of experienced SEO professionals in these countries and the good part of it is that they are as expensive as online marketers from other countries. But of course, be discerning as possible and try to minimize your risks by asking questions.

9. Know your budget
Cash flow is king. You have to make sure that your budget is enough to execute your SEO campaign. By minimizing your SEO cost, you can easily increase your ROI and minimize your loss in case the campaign is not effective. The Philippines offer low-cost SEO outsourcing and there are plenty of consultants in the country that are actually good, so I would recommend to go to Google and begin your search.

10. Keep on learning
I like Robert Kiyosaki’s motto on one of his books: Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. This can be applied to SEO. Even though you did not reach the goals that you wanted, you cannot call that campaign a failure. If anything is not going so well, what you can do is pick up the points and act from there.

What is White Label SEO?

White label SEO is the term used to differentiate acceptable and not acceptable (foul) methods of optimizing websites for search engines.

White hat and white-label SEO refers to the strategy of increasing your website’s rank in Search Engine Rank Pages (SERP) through creation and dissemination of valuable and useful contents. Black hat refers to SEO activities geared towards spamming.

The logic behind white label SEO is simple: provide high quality contents that will attract and engage more visitors. It may sound very easy but in practice, white label SEO requires a lot of research, effort, and dedication.

Quick notes on high quality contents

Quality contents refers to contents are both valuable and compelling to its audience. How do you create and discern which is valuable and compelling?

This may sound highly philosophical, but we really think that you should answer this question first before you attempt white label SEO and go on producing contents for your website. First, something is useful if it aids in completing a goal. Whether solving a problem, addressing issues or concerns, or just satisfying curiosity, a useful content provides helpful information to its audience, not the website owner.

Aside from being informative, the content should also be compelling. It must demand attention, elicit emotion, and a source of positive experience for its audience.

Unless your content (whether articles, news, images, or videos) provides either or both value and emotional pull, it can’t be considered as high quality and you might just junk it out of your website.

The Advantages of White Label SEO to your business

Aside from satisfaction in doing something inherently good for others (you help them through quality information), white label SEO have several advantages for your business.

High website traffic, increase business visibility

Providing rich content on your website is like having a natural magnet that attracts visitors on your site. Since they need the information you’re offering, they would most probably find your site evenU if you don’t flag it under their nose. What more if you couple it with several SEO strategies like linkbuilding?

Positive image and reputation

Because you have provided engaging and useful contents for your readers, it automatically sums up to make your image positive to the public. You’re not just enjoying high traffic, but a positive Online visibility. In the business world and market arena, positive image is never a tool to be underestimated.

Positive and engaging experience leads to sales

<a href=http://www.digitalmoz.com"/>Successful Online marketing and search engine optimization campaigns, those which translate to sales, share a specific characteristic: they managed to give positive and engaging experience to their audience. People associate experiences to people, places, things, and practically anything that was present while it was happening. So if your website managed to provide positive experience to your audience, there is a higher tendency that they will have positive recalls with your brand, your products, and your company.

Engaging content inspires fans and brand loyalty

Once you give out something to other people, expect that they would not forget about your good deed easily. Continue feeding them with helpful information, and they’re sure to love you and your business even more. Fans and brand advocates means constant sales and consistent cash flow. They wouldn’t leave you during crises, nor would they even if your competitors offer the same products. Beats your competitor, wouldn’t it?

This list is not exhaustive, and there are many other benefits that you can enjoy if you’ll use white label SEO for your business.

In his article published in Moz Top Ten March issue, The Art of Content Marketing, Craig Anderson summarized the benefits of content-focused marketing for your business:

“Produce something informative that people will want to read. Give your brand a personality and your business will benefit across the board, from recruitment to sales….”

Keeping a client is hard, and making a repeat business is harder. And it is several folds more difficult if you’re involved in Business to Business (B2B) transactions where the competition is high and the market is limited.

In the most ideal world, you can keep all your clients happy and they will constantly renew their contracts with you.

But we are not in wonderland, and maintaining a 100% client retention rate is almost impossible. You’ve spent time, energy and money to acquire them, but in the end, they’ll just leave you. It’s harsh but that’s the truth. No matter how much effort you put in, there will be instances when you would have to say goodbye to some clients.

It’s not only you who has this kind of problem. A lot of businesses do. Client retention is one of the most talked about issues in business management. Despite the extensive research and dialogues regarding this topic, achieving high client retention rate still remains as difficult as ever.

Manage Expectations
Client relationships doesn’t start after contract signing and initial deposit. On the other hand, client relationship starts exactly right on the first meeting.

During this first meeting, your task is not just to sell the service, but to manage expectations. Clearly explain what is and what is not and draw the line between what can and what cannot be. Due to misunderstandings and human error, clients sometimes have the wrong notions and expectations of what they have paid you to do. It is your duty, as the service provider, to enlighten them about it. Otherwise, you would end up being accused of not delivering what they thought you’ve promised them you’ll do.

Tell them about the whole and exact process of your service; negotiate on the metrics you’re going to use, the results and exact timetables you’re going to work for. Put in the constrictions and dependables because it is unavoidable that problems would arise from these loopholes.

Before anything else, properly onboard your clients. Give them straight details on what to expect.

Deliver more than what you promised
This couldn’t be overemphasized enough. To keep your clients, you must make them happy and satisfied. Exceed their expectations and give them 10% more than the results that you promised. Aside from the core product or service that you have, offer little extra benefits for them like free consultations and discounts. Clients who receive more than what they need is more likely to renew their contracts.

Initiate dialogue and open all avenues for communications
Make sure that you open every avenue for communications. As much as possible, regularly update your clients on the status of your work and make it a point to be available whenever they need your help. Sure, you have other clients, but how hard can it be to send a two to three liner emails about the tasks you finished for them this week?

With all the available online platforms, it wouldn’t be so hard to keep in touch with all your clients. Talk to them through facebook, twitter, or even Google +.

Constant communication builds rapport, increases trust, and deepens the relationship. The more your clients trust you, the more likely they’ll repeat business with you again.

Anchor client relationship efforts on honesty and genuine concern

Never lie to your clients. Even if things didn’t went as planned, and you messed up on important activities that might adversely affect the result they need, don’t ever try to hide this from your clients. They will more likely discover this, and they wouldn’t trust you or your company ever again.

Tell them the truth, but before doing that, make sure that you have already fixed the problem (otherwise, you should have a ready plan at hand).

We at DigitalMoz are not selfish. Since we enjoy one of the highest client retention rate relative to our line of business (and high client referrals as extra), we are glad to share these principles that we follow in taking care of our clients. We hope that these will help your business as well.

Internet is no longer just a tool for self-expression; it has become a tool for collaboration and an agent for change. What we do Online goes beyond connecting with our friends and relatives. Right now, it had even become a source of income.

A lot of people makes money Online, and we’re not just talking about pocket size-cash here. Some earns around four-to-five-digits dollars. Because many students will graduate this march and not everyone will immediately get jobs for themselves (sorry, just truth there), we have compiled 5 most popular sources of Online income in the Philippines to help these soon-to-be-graduates earn money through the Internet.

Blogs

Blogs are short term for web logs. In the Philippines, blogs are among the most popular online activity aside from social networks and engines. Many Filipinos are great writers, more so because we can communicate via the world’s lingua franca. Blogs are among the top sources of Online income in the Philippines.

Companies and businesses pay bloggers to blog about their products or services. In the Philippines, companies invite bloggers to attend specific events like product launches and press releases, join contests or promos, or product sampling for free. Sometimes, bloggers get freebies and incentives for each blog they write. Sometimes, they get paid through blog purchase, in-text advertisements, or affiliate programs.

If you want to earn from blogging, make sure that your blog caters to a specific Niche. You have to build visibility and credibility, because most often than not, bloggers who get paid were those who have Online Celebrity status. Take time to write about the current happenings in your field, and look for ways to market your own blog site.

Videos

After blogs, videos comes next. Vlogs or video logs are usually short, amateur works that are either humorous, informative, or touching. If there is a list of adjectives that can be attached to Filipinos, creative, talented and entertaining would most probably rank high in the list. We never fell short in both skills and talent for creating valuable, highly viral videos.

If you want to earn through videos, the easiest way is to build a collection of how-to’s about a specific product or field. For example, “simple steps to make your hair shiny all day” or “how to style your hair for prom”. These attract advertisements and affiliate proposals from businesses. Make sure that you’re going to make videos for things or events that people usually search for Online, and properly market these videos through Facebook, twitter, and other social networks.

Photos

Taking beautiful photos of places, products, and events can also lead income to your doorsteps. Photographers enjoy royalties and incentives if people are using and sharing their photos Online. There are websites that specifically buys good quality photos from individuals like Shutterstock.

You need to make investments if you’re looking to make money through your lenses. For one, you must have a camera that can produce high quality shots. If photoshoot is just a hobby, it is also advisable that you go through short certificate photography courses to hone your technical skills and abilities.

E-commerce Websites and dropshipping

In dropshipping, an individual puts up a website where customers can order specific products. But instead of personally producing these goods, the website owner transfers these orders to the mother company who manufactures the products (usually, these are foreign-based companies with no branches in the Philippines).

Most dropshipping sites in the Philippines uses free-hosting websites (Multiply.com remains the top e-commerce hosting-site). Sulit.ph and Ayosdito.ph are also potential avenues for dropshipping.

Forums and other Community sites

Aside from Blogs and Social Networking sites, Forums are the next Online platforms where you can find most Filipinos.

Companies are targeting Online communities for their Digital Marketing initiatives. Sometimes, they provide incentive programs for senior forum members who would promote their links or their products. If the Online community is popular and receives high traffic (which means that a lot of their target audience can be reached through this forums), most companies are willing to buy wide skyscrapers, banner ads, and rectangular pop-ups.

In whichever Online income avenues you choose to invest, your success will still depend on the effort and persistence you’re willing to give. Earning through the internet is never an easy feat, and it requires you to do a lot of marketing. Unless you can successfully market your blog, videos, photos, or websites, don’t expect to make much (or any) money from it.

Thinking of going into Internet Marketing and becoming unsure of what to do? If you don’t even know where to start, good thing you found this page. In here, you’re going to find 5 simple but very important steps that can help you get a start to successful Internet Marketing.

Step 1: Define your goals

Before you start launching several Internet marketing campaigns – and spend considerable shares of your treasure if there’s any to begin with – I advise you to sit down first and reflect on what you really want to achieve with your Internet marketing. The reason why most Online marketing initiatives fail is due to Internet marketers failing to pinpoint their goals. They run and try to chase different leads all at once. Base on your goals, define the most important metrics for your campaign. Say for example the number of visits you want, visit quality, viral marketing potential, social mentions, conversion rates, etc.

Get a clean-cut list of your goals, and everything else will follow.

Step 2: Know your target

The core of marketing, whether offline or online, is understanding your target market. Knowing what they want and what they don’t want is crucial as this will give you prized insights on how you will craft and execute your Online marketing plan, the kind of < a href=”http://www.digitalmoz.com”/>internet marketing model to use, and the tools you should invest in. You can get yourself posted on several websites, but unless you’re seen by your target (READ: people who needs/wants your product) your initiatives are worthless. Here’s the good news: observing your target is a lot more doable in the digital world. By using web anaIlytics, you can efficiently monitor your market’s behavior. Try to see what their following, which pages they visit, which kind of keywords they search for, or what sort of content attracts them or shoos them away.

Step 3: Know your competitors

Understand the Internet marketing strategies they use. What sort of techniques and tools contributes to them outselling your product? Do they use search engine optimizationI or search advertising? SEO or PPC? Analyze their digital maneuvers and look for specific areas of Online Marketing where they are best at. If they employ Search Engine marketing, what keywords do they rank best at and will it be possible for you to snatch this rank from them? It’s always best to start with a foreknowledge on what you are facing because this will give you a lead on what you should be doing and how you’re going to face it.

Step 4: Measure and optimize

Once you rolled out your Web marketing initiatives, keep anchored on your metrics as they will direct your next moves. Measure and check if your metrics were achieved. So far, were you keeping up with the benchmarked figures or are you lagging a little behind? If you did hit the metrics exactly as planned, move forward and start planning another attack. You can’t be stacked into reaching a short goal, you have to move and take the lead.

Step 5: Know your options

There are a lot of Internet marketing goals and models available today. Depending on your needs and budget, carefully evaluate and select from your alternatives. If you are a small to medium size company, is it best for you to build and train your own web marketing team and do your Internet Marketing in-house, or is it better to outsource marketing services? Which among the companies would you trust and what services to avail? If you’re already outsourcing the service, did the company deliver the metrics they promised or should you start searching for another service provider?

Whatever options you’re considering, just make sure to carefully analyze your situation and keep focused on your goals. It’s always better to do things right the first time, but persistence and determination are proven keys for success.

Are you a fresh graduate/ undergraduate that is worried about your school credentials? Have you lost confidence and is afraid to apply and do job interviews? Are you wondering what career path is the right one for you? Search engine marketing may be the right profession for you.

In the Philippines, Search Engine Marketing is one of the most wanted profession with very few individuals who are qualified to do the job. Unlike Nursing, Commerce, Education, HRM and other courses where positions have been filled, Search engine marketing is a sure shot that offers high-paying salary and has a lot of vacancies around the globe. No need for you to go abroad and leave your family here. You can earn as much, while doing search engine marketing at your own room.

Start your Online Marketing Career and be professionals like us by clicking this link ->>> Basic Search Marketing Course

Below are other reasons why you should consider search engine marketing by Kalena Jordan:

1) The Search Industry is HOT

The first dot-com bubble may have burst 6 years ago, but the current bubble is getting bigger and stronger every day. One of the main reasons for
the current dot-com boom is the skyrocketing growth of the search engine industry. No longer the territory of geekdom, search has
exploded into the mainstream over the past few years and businesses are falling over themselves to get seen by online searchers. And they’ll pay big bucks to search engines for the privilege.

Have you noticed that Google shares recently hit USD 500 EACH? It’s not a coincidence. Search giants like Google, Yahoo and AOL can’t fail to
make money because everybody wants a bit of the search action. There’s no denying, search is HOT, HOT, HOT.

2) It’s Considered one of Four Jobs on the Cutting Edge

According to a recent article on MSN Careers, the position of Search Engine Optimizer is considered one of four jobs on the cutting edge right now. Who gave it this title? A representative from the world’s largest specialized recruitment firm - Robert Half International Inc.

Search Engine Optimization is considered a sub-set of Search Engine Marketing.
If you’re unsure what a Search Engine Optimizer (SEO) does, below is a definition provided by MSN Careers:

“Search engine optimizers (SEOs) increase a firm’s Web site traffic by
improving its search-engine page rankings. This is an especially
important task in today’s Internet-driven world, where many customers
first learn of an organization and its products or services through the
Web. Because of a shortage of experts in this relatively new area, many
top SEOs receive multiple job offers. SEOs typically supplement their
knowledge of how various search engines operate and determine page
rankings with strong marketing skills, as well as the ability to
communicate effectively and program using HTML.”

Wikipedia also defines Search Engine Optimizers here.

3) The Pay is Fantastic

A job in the search industry can be unbelievably lucrative. As noted recently by Jennifer Laycock of Search Engine Guide, “There are quite literally more jobs than there are skilled marketers and salaries can skyrocket to almost embarrassing levels.”

Have you seen the type of salaries that search engine marketing and search engine optimization consultants are currently commanding in the US? Clearly, the search industry is making some people rich. Here are some typical salaries in USD:

Entry level SEO/SEM position = $30-45K

Three to five years experience / online account managers = $50-75K

Five + years / organic SEO specialists = $75-90K

Senior management level = $70-120K

SEM Director = $95-150K

VP Level = $100-315K

Additional Salary links:

http://www.clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3591061

http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=10543

4) You Don’t Need a College Degree

Because the search industry is relatively young, there are only a handful of online courses and certifications offered in the field of Search Engine
Marketing with Search Engine College http://www.searchenginecollege.com/affiliates/jrox.php?id=464_1_aaid_1 being one such training provider.

Most search engine marketing practitioners are self-taught, learning the trade by experimenting with their own sites, researching trends, attending conferences and participating in discussion forums and so employers don’t generally require SEO / SEM certification or a tertiary qualification as a pre-requisite for a position in the industry.

However, andidates who hold a marketing degree or specific industry certification in Search Engine Marketing may well have an edge over their fellow applicants when it comes to interview selection.

<a href=”http://www.searchenginecollege.com/affiliates/jrox.php?id=464_1_bid_46″><img src=”http://www.searchenginecollege.com/affiliates/image.php?bid=46&amp;mid=464″ alt=”" width=”468″ height=”60″ border=”0″ /></a>

5) You Can Learn it all Online

Everything you need to know to become a Search Engine Marketer, you can learn online. All the information is out there, you just have to find it. To become an expert in SEO / SEM, you need to do research, research and more research. Read everything you can get your hands on relating to search on a daily basis, including articles, forums, ebooks, blogs and newsfeeds. Then you need to put this knowledge into practice by experimenting with your own sites, or finding guinea pig sites to practice on such as those of friends, family or charity sites until you find the methods that give you the best results. Programming knowledge is not a pre-requisite for SEO / SEM jobs, but it does help to learn basic HTML. There are plenty of free HTML tutorials online.

If you don’t fancy years of research or are in a hurry to jump-start your career in search, consider taking an online Certification course in one
of the many Search Engine Marketing disciplines such as the Certification Pathways provided by Search Engine College http://www.searchenginecollege.com/affiliates/jrox.php?id=464_1_aaid_1. These type of courses are usually tutor-led and designed to fast-track your training and ensure you gain the right type of skills to make you immediately employable within the search industry.

6) You Can Be Your Own Boss

Because most of the work you’ll be doing is online, Search Engine Optimizers and Search Engine Marketers often have the freedom of choice to work for an employer, work from home and/or freelance. Many SEO / SEM freelancers end up hiring workers and starting their own company due to the massive demand. This gives search engine marketing experts the work from home lifestyle that others can only dream of.

7) Search Marketing Has the WOW Factor

Once they know what they’re doing, it’s very easy for a Search Engine Marketer to wow their clients. The difference that a successful SEO or PPC campaign can make to a client’s bottom line is substantial. I’ve seen online conversion rates for a client zoom from 1% to a massive 5% after just two small tweaks to their web site. And although rankings are not as important as actual conversions, clients still get very excited to see their site listed in the top 10 search results for certain keywords. It’s the WOW factor in action.

8 ) The Demand is Strong and Growing

As mentioned in relation to search engine salaries, there are literally many more jobs than there are skilled marketers to fill them. This extreme demand means Search Engine Marketers can pick and choose their jobs and/or clients. The more skilled marketers are head-hunted regularly. For Search Engine Optimization firms, there are more than enough clients to go around and rarely a need to advertise for new business. That’s why you often find SEOs turning away clients or recommending their competitors during extremely busy periods.

Experts in select specialties such as Pay Per Click Advertising (a sub-set of
Search Engine Marketing) are currently enjoying even higher demand than
usual, as advertisers out-bid each other to have their site shown for
popular keyword searches on Google, Yahoo! and MSN. Another indicator
of high demand is the sheer number of search-related job postings seen
on employment sites such as those listed here.

9) The Industry is Hip and Groovy

There’s something very trendy about people in search that I can’t quite put my finger on. There’s a constant buzz around them. If you’ve ever been to a search engine conference or to Google’s headquarters you’ll know what I mean. Maybe it’s the fact that they’ve come from so many different professions. Or that the age range of search marketers varies from teens to Baby Boomers. Or their whacky dress sense. Maybe it’s the mell of money and happiness that they give off. Maybe it’s the fact that they are constantly in the media. I don’t know. All I know is that it’s no longer uncool to be a geek. In fact it’s downright hip to be square.

10) The Skills Are Portable and Global

Skills in search engine marketing are portable and global. You don’t need to be at a desk, in an office or on the phone all day. You don’t even need to meet your clients. Of all my clients, I’ve probably only met 20 percent of them and spoken to half of them on the phone or via chat. You can be on vacation for six months out of the year in various locations and still conduct business. You literally only need a
computer and an Internet connection. The Internet is the universal equalizer. You can service clients in any country in the world, in many different languages. You can compete with one man operations and Fortune 500 companies on the same level playing field. The flexibility of the search industry is a huge advantage over other career options. Have laptop, will travel!

11) Job Satisfaction is High

Search is a fascinating industry. With all the hype, daily gossip, corporate take-overs, start-ups and geek toys, I can guarantee that you won’t get bored. This combined with the flexible work hours, low start-up costs, ability to be your own boss and the excellent income keeps job satisfaction high for Search Engine Marketers. So what are you waiting for? Go get a job in search.

On-site SEO is important and one of the very foundation of search engine optimization. This is where you start your search engine marketing strategy since you control your website and can serve to your prospects what you want them to see about your business.

Though 75% of search experts believe that Search engine optimization is all about the links, we strongly think that on-site optimization should be ignored. Ideally, links can bring a lot of traffic to your website and improve rankings but it is your website content that make the difference. Bringing users to your website is conventional, convincing them to buy or trust your company is a totally different thing which some .

Here is some basic steps on how to optimize your website. The 5 basic steps that can make a big difference to your business:

Title – SEO experts agree that the title is the most important factor of search engine optimization that you can do on-site as it describes to the users and web crawlers what your page is all about. Just make sure that you have a unique title for all of your web pages, it contains your target keyword and is related to your webpage content. Make sure that you limit it to 64-characters including spaces.

Meta Description- Meta description supports the title tag and plays an important role of getting clicks because this small snippet of content helps the title to describe what your page is all about. Ideally, once a user reads your title tag they will then read your meta description and it will entice them enough to click to your page. Make sure that your meta description supports your title, contains keywords, has a short call-to action and to limit it up to 150 characters only including spaces. Otherwise, your description will be cut.

Headers- Headers or heading tags were originally developed for better site hierarchy, but they can also be used for on-site optimization. Heading tags go from <h1> to <h6> and when keywords are applied to these tags they can increase your website rankings by helping users to read and break down your content per section.

Sitemap – is a map of your site. There are two kinds – a static sitemap and an XML sitemap. The static sitemap is usually used by human surfers and is chart of your website, showing where pages are in relation to one another, as well as how the pages link to each other. On the other hand, an XML sitemap is used by Google’s web crawlers and is invisible to human users. Using an XML sitemap will ensure that web crawlers can access all of the web pages effectively and that none get missed.

On-site links- These are the links through which surfers will navigate between different pages of your web site and may be embedded within the content, or by use of a navigation bar offering a menu of sections and pages of the web site. Internal links are used by web crawlers as the internal doorway to the rest of the web site – if you do not have a good internal linking structure, then the risk is some of your web site will not be indexed by the search engines and therefore you lose out on gaining ranking points. Due to post-panda update, Google tends to reduce the importance of links within the headers, sidebars and footers of your website. The best practice to implement to your website is to make sure that you have links pointing to your main pages within your content.

Why the Passing of US’ SOPA should be stopped: A quick look to its future disadvantages

What will happen if your internet connection is not anymore as user friendly as before? What will you feel if things inside it are already restricted or in tight control of someone or a body in the government? Sounds depressing right?

Aside from the issue on Occupying the Wall Street because of people crying for inequality and state abandonment, another buzz in the US news sphere is the bill on internet censorship or the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). This bill creates loud criticisms and negative reactions from those who are opposing it. Campaigns in the world wide web continue to escalate as the US Senate and Congress continue to hear the passing of the bill. See Matt Cutts and Google’s Opinion on SOPA.

US has been one the leading advocates of freedom, equality and democracy as a whole. As the world’s model, they try as much as they could to be great in every aspect of their society- from politics up to the observation of the basic human rights. However, things continue to unveil as they continue to change their views on different things. Things are getting worse resulting to great clamor from those who are getting affected by these changes or so-called ‘irregularities’.

Internet became one of the freest media platforms. You can do almost everything inside this virtual world- be creative, be better informed and be critical in your views at the same time. Internet changes the landscape of media and the world as a whole. It made everything easily available to everyone. It has an advantage that can make life more convenient and innovative as well. Restricting its functions could hamper this freedom and might trigger to a large mass of protesters.

In my opinion, this bill that US Senate and Congress are trying to push through will not, at all, benefit the people. Freedom of the speech and of expression which are stipulated on their constitution will be violated. It’s not as if it will save their society from all forms of crimes and misdeeds, because at back of it are the dangers that it will bring to those sites that can be considered by the government as illegitimate and have no used.

They can easily shut down websites or control media outlet. Activities on Facebook, Twitter and even YouTube cannot be tolerated anymore because they will consider these as not legal or unlawful. In short, virtual web will be in crisis if this bill will be passed. And since they are the model when it comes to tailoring a law, I’m sure not more than a month after passing that bill other countries around the world will follow and make their own version of the bill. If that happens it will be consider the lowest point of internet generation.

Look at the other Asian countries that came up with these restrictions, are they experiencing what we, Filipinos are currently experiencing? No.

Take a look at India, authorities were taken aback last month when an anti-corruption campaign multiplied on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites and drew tens of thousands of people to protest sites.

In South Korea, the government heavily filters online content involving North Korea, with which it is still technically at war. But its citizens continue to lobby the government for more access.
While in China, government has deployed its computers to track the internet traffic and it crosschecks the same against a list of blocked keywords and websites. Consequently, it bans anything that matches the list. For instance, it has blocked the word ‘freedom’ from being search on Google.

Obviously, these countries are not adhering to the essentials of freedom. They are doing the restriction for news black-outs and pro-government purposes.

Maybe US government has been seeing this very much effective in controlling the people making other Asian countries as their guinea pigs. Through this bill, they can control the news that coming out especially those against the government. They can easily crush down sites that do not follow the standards. Lastly, they can easily take away those business competitors in the internet that has been on their butts for long years already. Making them more prominent in the internet that will cause high revenue for them and for their own companies. Business matters but it doesn’t mean that you will do unfair things to outsmart the others.

Another probable ill effect of this bill is that it will hamper the internet innovations. No more creation of another breakthrough in online society- Facebook and Twitter will remain the stagnant, can you imagine that? Blogging and other form of self expression will not be as free as before. Innovations will stop and will be paralyzed.

As drafted, the legislation would grant the government and private parties unprecedented power to interfere with the Internet’s domain name system (DNS). The government would be able to force ISPs and search engines to redirect or dump users’ attempts to reach certain websites’ URLs. In response, third parties will woo average users to alternative servers that offer access to the entire Internet (not just the newly censored U.S. version), which will create new computer security vulnerabilities as the reliability and universality of the DNS evaporates.

Under SOPA’s provisions, service providers (including hosting services) would be under new pressure to monitor and police their users’ activities. While PROTECT-IP targeted sites “dedicated to infringing activities,” SOPA targets websites that simply don’t do enough to track and police infringement (and it is not at all clear what would be enough). And it creates new powers to shut down folks who provide tools to help users get access to the Internet the rest of the world sees (not just the “U.S. authorized version”).

DigitalMoz SEO Philippines believe, once you get through the media processes, you are killing the democracy and freedom these institutions are entitled to.

So please help us with our advocate in making the internet a free-for-all media. By sharing this post, you are preserving the very essence of the world wide web which is FREEDOM.
