When running your own internet marketing campaign for your company or website, it is very important to keep track of your success. At the start of the campaign, you are usually set with a projected level of success that you need to reach such as increasing inquiries or site traffic.

But in order to know whether the campaign is effective or not, you need to keep track of your current accomplishments and see which ones are working and which ones are just a waste of time.

Here are some ways to keep track of your campaign while it is ongoing:

Use trackable links.

In linkbuilding, it is important that you spread them to different sites in hopes of exposure. But it is not easy to track how many people were able to view your website through that link. One tool is to create a bitly account and use it to create links that you promote on different sites such as Facebook or Twitter.

Bitly can monitor how many people have clicked on your links and you can use it to analyze the traffic and which links are gaining clicks. Creating an account is easy and all you need to do to create a shortened link on bitly is to copy-paste the original URL and it will automatically generate a new URL for you.

Don’t be shy to ask your clients

One of the first things you should ask to your clients is how or where they found out about you, whether from a directory, referral, newspaper or even on social media accounts. This is a simple and straightforward way of knowing where your leads are generating from and which of your campaigns are working.

Use keyword tools

When you are promoting yourselves online, it is important to use the right keywords so that people can find you on the internet. Google AdWords is an effective tool to measure which keywords you should target for your website as it shows you how many people are looking for those particular keywords.

Ranking on search engines and getting leads are tricky and it is always a challenge for social media specialists to come up with a competitive campaign that will run successfully. It is why specialists needs to make themselves aware of the current progress of their campaign to make sure that they are achieving their goals and not wasting their time.

Summer has arrived once again and for students, it only means two things – vacation and internship.

Being an intern a couple of years ago, I know what it feels like to look for a site that will train and hone your skills in a field that you want to push in the near future. It’s not easy, but knowing where you want to be is a great head start.

The good thing is, Digitalmoz is open all year round for interns who want to learn anything and everything about digital marketing in the Philippines and around the globe. So irregular and/or graduating students are welcome to be part of the growing family of Digitalmoz.

For the past years, we have taught marketing, communication and IT students from different universities in Manila and nearby provinces about the ins and outs of the industry as well as how it’s like to be working on “the real world”.

These students enjoyed their On The Job Training (OJT) hours more than what’s required in their portfolios for finding the program educational and fun at the same time. Plus, the quirky working relationship that we have in the company.

Here, they have experienced online news gathering, news and feature writing including editing, corporate presentations, website creation, graphics design as well as maintaining websites from different brands and industries worldwide.

For interested applicants, you can submit your application letter along with your resume and portfolio at jobs@digitalmoz.com. Have we mentioned that we are giving allowance?

Be part of Digitalmoz family and who knows, you might be the next big thing in the internet marketing world!

For every SEO writers or marketers, they know that we have to make SEO efforts through different methods such as link building and guest posting. SEO usually writes articles or press releases to be posted on websites, blogs or any other kinds of article submission sites.

These articles or any written content usually takes the name of the client who hired the SEO writer especially when it is posted on the client’s official website. Some may say that it’s plagiarizing or taking credit away from the original writer but as a part of the industry, it’s just a part of the job. These writers are paid to write for them for many reasons, some of them may be the lack of time, writing skills or lack of SEO knowledge so they utilize the creativity of brilliant writers and ask them to produce material as if it was written by them.

As for the writers, as SEO practitioners, they are willing to take on writing tasks which would require them to write about any given topics even if it’s not in their field of expertise. It is a tough job to do but the key is to do a lot of research and be familiar with what readers are actually looking for regarding the topic. It is also important to consider the particular target market that you are aiming for where factors such as age, gender or nationality could come in.

Building a Persona

When writing a particular topic, you really have to indulge yourself into someone who is an expert. Instead of thinking of what would you write about, think of what your client or any expert in the same field would write about and what your readers will pick up from your article.

Usually, guest posting or article submission sites ask authors to describe themselves briefly. Writers should take advantage of these by filling it up with information that would fit the type of person who would write the given article. It adds credibility to you as a writer and readers would most likely invest reading your article if they see that it was written by an expert who knows what he’s talking about.

But these personas are not just for temporary usage, having a persona could help you when you write and submit more articles in the future that are in the same field or industry.

The most important thing to remember is that nowadays, it is easy to make anyone believe anything in social media and you really have to show that what you post in the internet is credible no matter who you are writing for to make it believable.

Manila, Philippines – As everybody welcomes the new Latin American Pope Francis inn the Vatican City, snapshots of the two leading broadsheets in the Philippines caught the attention of “netizens” and newspaper readers because of different news headlines.

The headline of the Philippine Star today earned different reactions while being set on the side of Philippine Daily Inquirer’s headline which bore the real-time turn of event.

The image containing the headlines of the two broadsheets that were uploaded over the social networking site Facebook generated a lot of shares and comments. The picture was even tagged as:

“Timeliness is next to Godliness. It is clear who didn’t stay up late.”

With this issue circulating via the internet at present, can we conclude now that online media has more potential in giving more reliable and timely news and information because of its click-erase-change capability, that can happen in just a blink of an eye?

Yesterday, I logged on to my Twitter account to find out the latest news about the conclave.

Based on my observation, most of the news agencies in the Philippines with social media accounts including Rappler.com and ABS-CBN News.com are very active in posting the latest news and happenings up to the time wherein they tweeted that black smoke appeared in the chimney of the Sistine Chapel.

I immediately re-posted it on my Facebook account so I can also update my friends and officemates who want to know the result of the conclave.

It’s really amazing how news and updates circulate fast within the Twitter world. In this regard, we can give the credit to the internet as a very helpful platform in times we need urgency.

On the other hand, this does not mean that we have to criticize the efforts of those who are in the print media because of this incident.

We all know that it is an honest mistake but, they have to ensure the public that they are also vigilant and updated when it comes to current events that needs real time updates such as these.

As readers and audience, we also have to do our part. Being vigilant to know the latest happenings around us is very important. We should check our facts from different sources, especially in times like this- the principle of check and balance is still best tool in knowing the larger truth.

Quoting one of the comments of a netizen about the issue, indeed “Nobody is perfect”.

Whether you’re an online or print media practitioner, responsible journalism should not be disregarded. We need to feed the public with updated, credible and substantial information they need for their everyday lives.

If you have delivered your duty on time, you don’t have to feel bad because it only proves that you have passion, dedication and hard work towards your craft.

Study reveals that Facebook ‘Likes’ can expose intelligence and other intimate attributes that users normally don’t share

A new research conducted at the University of Cambridge Psychometrics Center and Microsoft Research Cambridge showed that people who “Like” curly fries are more likely to be geniuses. “Liking” Spider Man is More Scared Than U, on the other hand, means the person is a non-smoker.

Can you believe that?

Study Linking People’s “Likes” to their Personal Attributes.

That personalities can be reflected depending on the pages people “Like” on Facebook is almost a give-away. In a short view, this sounds somewhat like common-sense-at-work thing to anyone. But the results of the study revealed that liking even the most mundane items or pages say a lot about a person’s character.

The study analyzed the “Likes” from 58,466 volunteers and were able to predict with surprisingly high accuracy a range of intimate and personal information that are often undisclosed in Facebook.

By feeding the volunteers’ Likes” on algorithm and corroborating it with data gathered from submitted demographic profiles and psychometric testing results, the researchers were able to come up with a statistical model that can reveal personal details including their sexual preference, religious or political views, relationship status, as well as substance abuse through Facebook “Likes” alone.

For instance, the study was able to determine with 95% accuracy whether a person is Caucasian or African based on the pages that they “liked”. Whether a person is single or not or is into excessive drugs or not can also be predicted by their “likes” 65 to 73 percent of the time.

Do you like curly fries? Cause if not, the tendency is that you don’t have high IQ.

A new tool for Digital Marketing

Digital Marketers have always been obsessed with tracking and measuring their market’s personality, behavior, and psychographs. They use these data to ensure that their various marketing efforts like Facebook campaigns will generate the effect or “change in behavior” that they want for their audience. But privacy issues and unwillingness to expose intimate details on the part of the consumers make this task unbelievably hard.

But with this new discovery in Facebook, digital marketers can now get their hands on even the most personal details about their target market merely through the kind of music, bands, or TV programs that they “like”. They can take a sneak peak if whether or not their target is a part of the broken family, are chain smokers, emotionally unstable, or extrovert.

Businesses don’t have to engage on disruptive surveys and invest on questionnaires or tools to measure how their market thinks or behaves. With a readily available public data such as Facebook “Likes”, marketers can now have the option to generate data when they need it. Further, they can do this with a wider range of public that will translate in more accurate results.

There’s no doubt that advertisers will harness the advantage of this new findings. Perhaps what we’re more excited about is if whether or not Facebook, as a company, will take advantage of it for their business.

Many of us are big fans of sports. Whether it’s a local league like the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) or a well known international league like the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), there is surely a sport that anyone can enjoy.

Most of these sports are broadcasted in different media such as the television and the internet where we, as viewers, can be spectators of the game as well and capture the atmosphere of the venue even if we are somewhere else.

Social media has been a vital factor in forming a connection between the sport and the fans.

Keeps us updated with scores and updates

Even if you’re busy with personal matters, scores can easily be retrieved through the internet. News outlets and social networks usually broadcasts the scores or provide streaming to watch the game even on your computers. Finding out who won can be done in an instant.

Be connected with the team

Got a favorite team? You can now show your support through social media by going to their fan sites, forums or official fan pages on Facebook and other websites. You can get the latest updates directly from the team. You can express how big of a fan you are and get to meet other fellow fans as well.

Reaching sports worldwide

Living in one country does not mean you are limited to your local sports. There are a lot of leagues that have reached a global status of fame and anyone can easily subscribe to updates for them through the media.

Social media is also an outlet to find out the hottest news on sports right at the specific moment of its occurrence. Take example the latest incident at the PBA where an import player of a particular team choked his own teammate due to the frustration of losing the game.

Twitter and other social media outlets exploded right away. It became one of the trending topics on Twitter and created a lot of buzz on blogs and Facebook.

Internet marketing is now stronger as ever as companies found a way to gain profit by connecting the fans and giving them a wider access to their favorite sports. By sponsoring the athletes and providing platforms for fans to subscribe to, the companies have maximized ways for them to monetize sports and at the same time, keep the fans satisfied. It is changing the landscape of the sports industry as putting social media as a big factor. Athletes and teams are now seen more as brands than just mere players due to the fact that they also possess the ability to influence the general public due to their media exposure.

Sixty–eight days from now and the Philippines will replace (or retain) its Senators and Party List representatives. Although majority of the candidates still goes with the traditional political soiree in every region in the country, there are those who have taken advantage of social media to reach the more tech-savvy Filipino voters.

But we all know that media, especially the Internet is a powerful tool because it’s very efficient and fast that one misspelled word can cause you to become the laughing stock of Twitter-verse or a wrong pronunciation of a province’s name caught on video can easily become viral on Youtube.

Politicians have political advisers and commonly, they always tell their boss the right words to say, tweet or post so that they will look good in the eyes of their constituents. But sometimes, there are those who forget that they are on the web and go overboard with their tweets, posts or photos.

Just a reminder to all politicians and netizens, social media has etiquette too, you know.

Pay Attention to the Purpose, and in some case, Your Name

Whether your Twitter handle or Facebook page is handled by an administrator or personally by the candidates, their posts make a difference. Since it’s the election season already, most candidates do not have time to update their social media accounts that’s why they have their staff do it for them. The norm in such scenario is to put discretion below just like in Chiz Escudero’s Facebook Page.

More so, if they have personal and public accounts and you want to ask them for help, you should contact their business account and please, be patient with their reply. Remember, they are receiving thousands of emails every day.

Lifted form Francis Escuderos’ Facebook Page

Consider Your Tone

Outright bragging, humble-bragging, constant complaining and rhetorical questions never go well with readers. Since readers cannot really discern your tone online, it is always better to be straight to the point and if you are opinionated towards a certain person or organization and Twitter is the only way that you rant, people will always associate you with this tone; and this will not gain any voters or sympathy. Take for example Mrs. Villar’s recent mishap where she seemed to underestimate Filipino nurses. Tongues got wagging and in few days, she will issue a statement to clear her name. This is a serious case of a “tone that went out of proportion”.

Image from Google

Don’t Demand People to Follow You Back or Add You

Demanding people to follow you back on Twitter is a sure sign of desperation and you don’t want that. Remember, the Philippines is a democratic country and they have the right who follow or not. Constant plugs for a follow back or like feels calculated and fake online. Follow, add or repin someone or something because you want to, not because you expect something in return.

Keep Your Political Rants To Yourself

Expect that in the next two months, Filipino netizens will use social media to express their “passionate postings” against a candidate or a Party List. This is a good way to exercise freedom of expression but there are still people who do not want to hear about it and the worst that can happen is that, you will lose followers and you will be in hot water.

Image from Twitter.

Take for example the case of Buhay Party List where as early as March , have been tagged on this heated argument between anti and pro RH law. This might have been a good exposure for Buhay Party List if it were a good conversation and who knows, this argument could go viral. Now, there will be two effect for Buhay, either gain or lose followers.
